How it works

A simple, human process.

01

Tell me about yourself.

Share who you are, what matters to you, and who you’re looking for. It takes a few minutes.

02

I find a potential match.

I share a limited profile for your approval. If you both say yes, I introduce you directly.

03

Tell me how it went.

After the date, I ask for feedback so I can refine the search and know what to do next.

Roy Nicolet

Why I started the project

I’m an engineer, founder, Stanford MBA, and longtime tech leader. I know firsthand what dating looks like when your career is demanding, your standards are high, and the number of people who fit your life can feel small. I spent years navigating that world myself before meeting my wife, and I understand the pressures, tradeoffs, and social circles that shape dating for ambitious people.

I’ve spent years connecting people in my own communities, and several of those introductions have led to lasting relationships and families. What began informally became a real passion. As a straight man, I also bring a perspective that is less common in this field, particularly in understanding how men approach dating and relationships. I started the Matchmaking Project because I love helping people find someone to build a life with.

Common Questions

How do I get started, and how does it work? expand_more

Fill out a short form about who you’re looking for. If you look like a fit for someone in the pool, I share limited profiles with each other before anything happens. If you both say yes, I make the introduction by email.

Is it free to join? expand_more

Yes. There’s no cost to submit your profile, be considered for matchmaking, or be introduced to someone I think could be a great fit.

Will I get an introduction? expand_more

It depends on whether there’s a real match. I only make an introduction when I believe two people could build something long term, not just to make a connection happen.

Is this only for straight people? expand_more

No. It’s for everybody. Specify who you’re looking for in the form.

Where are you doing this? expand_more

I work across the United States. If there’s a match, I’ll make it, whether that’s in your own city or another one. Set your own preference in the form. Right now the biggest concentration of people is in the San Francisco Bay Area, mostly through the Stanford network.

What’s the best way to contact you? expand_more

The right introduction can change everything.
